This class served as preparation for the Splendors of Italy trip in 2024.
Learn about Italy’s topography and survey the tour sites. Discover how the emergence of the Roman Empire prepared the way for the first century spread of the gospel, how Rome was a particular target of Paul’s missionary work, how God brought Paul to Rome, and his evangelistic impact there. Concludes with a look at the Papacy and Vatican, the art of Michelangelo and Leonardo and the archaeology of Pompeii.
Egypt in the Bible
This class served as background preparation for the Splendors of Egypt trip in 2023.
Beginning with an introduction to the physical setting, history, religion, and language of Egypt, this class explores the significant role played by Egypt in the biblical narratives. Discover the Egyptian influences on the writer of the Pentateuch. Gain new insights into Egypt’s role in the life of the patriarchs. Explore how Egyptian bondage affected the nation of Israel, and how God delivered Israel from bondage with particular focus on the Egyptian gods. Sessions can be viewed online.
